Summer Beauty Essentials

The high summer heat can make it virtually impossible to look like your glam and foxy self, in fact I am convinced that such days were only invented just to test our make up application skills.

My summer make up routine differs from my winter make up look, is has to. Cruising around Adelaide with patchy foundation and eyeliner running down my face is really not the look I aspire to.

So my only option is to change it up, wear something that I know is going to last the distance.

As you know I have recently changed to a mineral foundation, I still wear a thicker foundation to amp things up for night time glam but for every day running around I am loving this new fresh faced look.

My day time summer beauty routine looks like this

I’m all about the base so I make sure my skin is in the best possible condition for when I put on my make-up which includes moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, and a strobe cream.

Make up wise it looks a little something like this:

  • Mineral foundation
  • Concealer (Eye bags yo)
  • Bronzer (As blush and contour)
  • Highlighter (Down bridge of nose, cupids bow and cheekbones)
  • Eyeliner (Brown, top water line only)
  • Eye shadow (Neutrals only)
  • Mascara (Black on top, brown on bottom lashes)
  • Fill in eyebrows
  • Lip gloss or lipstick if I’m feeling fancy
  • A spray of perfume.

Now that might seem like a lot to some but for me that’s pretty good!

I’ll admit that I am a beauty product junkie. When I find a beauty product I love I’m like a kid on Christmas morning. It really does make my heart sing (I’m not even joking, I love it that much)

Vani-t recently contacted me and asked if there was any of their products I would be interested in trying, as I had used their before and been extremely impressed my answer was of course a big fat yes.

I opted to try to the Mineral foundation, the Bronze Boheme Bronzer, Contour Multi brush and Kabuki Brush. Oh em gee, I die!

The mineral foundation glides on like a dream and makes my skin feel like satin.

The bronzer has a shimmer side and bronze side that gives me a lovely natural glow with not a trace of orange grossness in sight.

My other summer beauty essential if of course a faux tan…. Vani-T also kindly sent me a bottle of Brazilian Bronze tanning mousse and the application mit which is basically like finding the fake tan Holy Grail. You know how I feel about fake tanning so of course this made me one happy lady!

I’ve used this tan before (& written about it here) and just adore it, the colour is stunning, it is easy to apply and it lasts more than 2 days…. Something that really frustrates me with some of the other fake tans on the market.

The other reason I am a Vani-T fan is because they are a 100% Australian and cruelty free company, their products are made from all natural ingredients and most of their products are vegan with the exception of a few lip-glosses that contain bees wax. Everything listed above is vegan.

Add a spritz of perfume, some simple fine jewellery (I cant stand chunky jewellery on hot days) and I now feel like a bronzed glowing goddess that totally woke up like this.

Oh and before I go, please tell me your daily make up routine includes a sunscreen? Even if your makeup has SPF included you should always wear a sunscreen, even in winter. If not I suggest a trip to Priceline might be in order. I use this one from Neutrogena or this one from Invisible Zinc.

(FYI the Neutrogena is a chemical sunscreen and the Invisible zinc is a physical sunscreen for those concerned, more on that later)

What about you, tell me in the comments below what’s on your ultimate summer essentials beauty list?
