Anyone who knows me is very well aware of my addiction to fake tan. I love it it’s just my thing.

Even during the middle of winter I use a gradual tanning lotion at the very least. Naturally my skin is pretty much translucent with no ability to tan with sunlight alone, as I prefer a nice bronzed glow, my only option is to fake it.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’m the gal on the beachside holiday who right before bed can be found reapplying fake tan like a crazy lady in order to keep up with everyone else who seems to bronzed on just a little sunlight. Everyone else is getting darker with the sun and I am also getting darker, just with a little assistance.

Yeah, sure it’s a pain but with the right tan, you can fit right in and no one needs to know you’re a big fat faker.

That’s also why if you ask me to do anything on a Thursday night the answer is usually a firm no, that’s tanning night. I shave, exfoliate and rebuild. It may seem extravagant to some but to me it’s just part of my beauty routine, I feel better when I have a glow so it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make.

I saw a meme the other day of a baby whose mother had had a spray tan and then breastfed, the baby had tan all over its face because of obvious reasons. It was like looking into a crystal ball, that’s totally going to be me and my kid. Luckily for me, this tan is free of nasties!

I am that dedicated.

Finding a fake tan that suits your budget and doesn’t look like Doritos is a whole other ball game. I’ve tried them all and can safety say they are not all the same.

Being a tanning addict I am extremely fussy when it comes to my brands. They must
-Not stain my sheets/clothes
-Be the perfect shade of brown
-Go on easily and dry quickly
-I do like a colour guide but am willing to overlook it
-Be long lasting and fade equally, not leave patches and scaly skin

See it’s not that much to ask for.

As you know I attended the Bloggers United beauty workshop a few weeks back, just imagine my excitement when I realised that one of the presenters was Vani-t! I may or may not have let out a little squeal of joy.

I had previously used the Vani-t salon tanning solution for my spray tans and new the quality was up there.

So last Tansday I decided to give the Mousse I was gifted a whirl. Oh em gee, when used with a tanning mit the solution glides on with ease. It dries quickly and in the morning my white sheets were still clean and fresh! The best part is that I only needed 1 coat to achieve maximum colour.

I have tried some tanning solutions that need a double coat just to work up a decent shade, which of course is just using more product! As for this colour? Well you can see for yourself.

This is me 2 days after application, Its perfect!

After a few days I started using the Bronzing Custard for a little upkeep, you don’t necessarily need to but I find it helps prolong the colour until you’re ready to scrub it off and start again.

I moisturise daily regardless so after about day 3/4 I just swap my normal body moisturiser for a gradual tanning one, it helps the colour last longer and gives you more bang for your buck!

Both of the Vani-t products I have used are available from David Jones, Hairhouse Warehouse or selected beauty salons. The website will tell you where your closest stockist is but I can assure you it is well worth the trouble.

Oh and they never test on Animals, that’s a gigantic tick.

Price wise you are looking around the $40 mark for the Mousse and $30 for the Bronzing Custard (gradual tanning lotion), but well worth it when you consider it only needs a 1 layer application.

For extra tanning tips you can read this post here.

These items were gifted to me by Vani-t and organised by Bloggers United but it was my choice to write about them.

What about you, do you use fake tan? Have you tried Vani-t?
